Quarantine continues and after the success of our first remote Rock Club (Vol. 32), we did it again.
Vol. 33 - Biographical
The Theme
This in its purest form seems clear enough, but the theme led to many texts and taunts that it was too broad and many interpretations. When we interpret the theme differently and have unique approaches is one of the best parts of the theme process. Enjoy.
The Process
We used JQBX (pronounced Jukebox) again. It requires a Spotify Premium subscription, but it works flawlessly.
The Actual Rock Club
Things got kicked off with the "host" - always the person who suggests the theme or who is actually hosting Rock Club at their place. For everyone else, we used a randomizer to pick the order of playlists. Everyone submitted the playlists to me in advance and I created a big queue of all the songs (with a 8-second song between playlists to signal the change). The app worked great. Everyone was able to use the web version of JQBX, a phone app or Mac app. Interpretations of the theme included: music from cities you've lived in, songs about cities you've lived in, actual biographical songs, songs that relate to your life. We also joined each other on Houseparty to talk while we listened and ramp up the personal connection. It made drinking beer by yourself feel more social acceptable. You can enjoy the playlist to the right, and each individual playlist below. Finally, stay safe, stay away and enjoy some music. -Mike M.
